English: The Bike Flash is a device designed to draw the attention of trucks without turn assistants to cyclists so that they are not run over when turning right.

In 2018, 33 cyclists in Germany were run over and killed by trucks turning right.

The only pilot plant costing 30000 euros is located in Garbsen at the entrance to the Amazon logistics centre there.

Politicans in Germany promote the idea of installing Bike Flash devices at many crossings, as turn assistents will only become mandatory if an EU regulation is creaed, which will take years.

Flashing systems (like billboards) are not allowed near roads according to StVO, however, as they can distract vehicle drivers and thus, for example, promote a collision with another road user.

The test system may therefore have to be deactivated again soon.
